Division 2 Basketball

The NBL Division 2 side has been developed as part of a partnership with the University of Nottingham, the Wildcats WBBL team and the Nottingham Academy Wildcats. The team is called the University of Nottingham Wildcats and the aim is to develop a pathway for NAW student-athletes and Uni of Nottingham students, to progress into the higher levels of British and international basketball. The initiative provides a bridge between Junior basketball (U18s) and Senior women’s basketball, enabling those players to flourish outside of the pressures of the women’s professional league.

With an ever-increasing number of NAW student-athletes opting to stay in the sixth form for a third year they require a further outlet for their basketball, as they are excluded from junior basketball due to their age. Although, they remain eligible for the Basketball England’s Academy league (WEABL). The Division 2 team provides these players with a further platform to develop their skills and knowledge of the game, before progressing to the WBBL professional league, British Universities or American colleges.

The side’s home games are split between the University of Nottingham’s David Ross Sports Centre and the Wildcats Arena. A full fixture list is available on our website, so keep up to date with game dates and tip-off times by regularly visiting the website.
