The Nottingham Wildcats Basketball Club is sad to announce the passing of one of its longest serving members, Steve Clarke, who passed away on Sunday 10th December 2023.

Steve’s contribution to the Wildcats over the last 40 years has been immeasurable. During that time, as a Trust member, Steve did anything and everything that was required to make the Wildcats successful and to protect it as a space where younger and older people alike had a safe space to grow and learn. He often stepped in, at short notice, to referee Academy games, and putting his “game fees” back into the Academy budget. He supported the WBBL team in a number of ways, never wanting to be recognised for anything but happy and enthused to continue to serve the community at the club. As the Secretary of the Wildcats Trust, Steve was one of the driving forces behind the building of the Wildcats Arena in 2001, making the Wildcats the first women’s basketball club in the UK to own its own facility.

The Wildcats family have lost a true friend and our sincere condolences go out to his family and friends and especially his two children Suzie and Paul.
