The club announces our first overseas signing for the 2023-24 season, in 6’ 3” centre Brooke Bjelko.

Bjelko had a distinguished college career at Bryant University in the Northeast Conference, NCAA Division 1. She averaged a shade over 13pts a game in her senior year, to go with 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

This will not be Brooke’s first assignment away from the USA, as she had a short spell at Iraurgi SB in the Spanish Liga Femenina 2, an experience that will be invaluable as she settles into the WBBL.

In a statement issued by Brooke, regarding her signing with the Wildcats, she commented “I’m so excited to be joining the Wildcats for the upcoming season. I am very grateful to be able to join the team and hopefully make an impact as well. I can’t wait to meet the team and see what we are able to accomplish together this season”.

Brooke will combine playing for the Wildcats in the WBBL with studying for her master’s degree at Nottingham Trent University.

Wildcats’ Chairperson, Chris Prior, was positive about the signing of Bjelko, “We were pleased Brooke decided she wanted to continue her studies at NTU. She saw the club and the University as a good fit for her personally and professionally and we feel the same. She will be an ideal addition for us in the post and a welcomed consistent post presence, as we wish Kennedy Nicholas all the best at her new team in Portugal”.
