News piece
Nottingham Wildcats, Kennedy Nicholas and Kayla Shaw have made the WBBL All-Star 5 for week 4.

Karly Murphy – Sheffield Hatters

Karly Murphy features in the All-Star 5 for the second week in a row after Hatters were sensational at both ends of the floor in beating Durham Palatinates on Sunday, improving to 2-0 in WBBL Championship play. She was too much for the visitors to handle as she finished with a huge double-double of 29 points and 20 rebounds, shooting a perfect 10-10 from the free-throw line and also dishing out four assists. Murphy showed her full repertoire at both ends as Sheffield jumped out to an early 23-7 lead, with five points, seven rebounds, three assists and a block in the first quarter, before scoring 12 in the second stanza to reach a half time double-double.

Helen Naylor – Sheffield Hatters

While Murphy is a new face to the Hatters and the All-Star 5, her frontcourt partner certainly isn’t as four-time Molten WBBL British Team of the Year and two-time Molten WBBL Team of the Year nominee Helen Naylor makes her first appearance of the season.  She did almost as much damage in that game with a double-double of her own, 25 points and 12 rebounds, also adding three assists and three steals as she set the tone at both ends with four points and five boards in the early exchanges, before scoring 13 points in the fourth quarter as Hatters finished as they had started.

Kennedy Nicholas – Nottingham Wildcats

Nottingham’s American forward Kennedy Nicholas led the WBBL in rebounds last season and has picked up where she left off as Wildcats secured a big home win over Oaklands Wolves on Saturday. In under 24 minutes of action, she posted a big double-double of 15 points and 19 rebounds, along with two blocks, including four points and seven boards in the opening six minutes as the hosts led from tip-to-buzzer.

Kayla Shaw – Nottingham Wildcats

Making her debut in the weekly team is Wildcats’ new sharp-shooting American guard Kayla Shaw, who joined in the off-season from Azusa Pacific University where she averaged 17 points per game and was an All-PacWest Conference First Team selection. Those credentials are showing already as she poured in 24 points on 6-14 (42%) three-point shooting in the win over Oaklands, adding nine rebounds and five assists, with all of her long-range makes coming in the second half.

Elle Hendershot – Durham Palatinates

It’s a first appearance of the season for a familiar face from last year’s weekly team, Elle Hendershot, after Durham Palatinates – led by new Head Coach Matt Newby – progressed in the WBBL Cup by beating Manchester Met Mystics. She recorded a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, also handing out six assists and nabbing two steals as Palatinates produced a consistent performance by winning all four quarters, with Hendershot scoring 15 in the first half to get them off to a good start and a double-digit lead at the break.

Off the bench: Erin Jones (Caledonia Gladiators), Inma Bautistav (Durham Palatinates), Cassidy Gould (Oaklands Wolves), Mara Marchizotti (Cardiff Met Archers), Shannon Hatch (Cardiff Met Archers), Samantha Keltos (Manchester Met Mystics), Tea Adams (Caledonia Gladiators).
