Cobras Basketball is Back

Dear Cobra,

As you are aware Russ, Amelia and all the coaches from the Cobra’s programme decided
to ‘retire’ at the beginning of the first Covid-19 lockdown way back in March 2020. Russ has since
made an approach to the Wildcats to take over the programme, which we are more than happy to
do. A November 2020 restart was scheduled; then came the second and third lockdowns!
During the intervening time work has been going on behind the scenes to develop a comprehensive
programme of basketball for Monday nights at the Wildcats Arena, this included the recruiting of
staff to run the programme.

All this is now in place and I am happy to announce that the Head Coach for the programme will be Kieran Wright, who is a full-time basketball coach currentlyemployed within the Nottingham Academy Wildcats Perform programme.

As well as the Monday night sessions, which will take place at the Wildcats Arena between 6-00pm
and 8-00pm, teams will be entered into the Friday evening central venue league (CVL). All sessions
will be conducted in a Covid secure manner using systems developed and implemented over the
past year for the WBBL franchise, which due to it being deem elite level by the Government, has
continued to operate throughout the pandemic.
It is proposed to restart the sessions on Monday 10 th May 2021, 6-00pm to 8-00pm, although you
maybe required to arrive before 6-00pm in order to go through Covid checks. If you are looking to
continue your basketball with Cobras or are a player new to the club, I would be grateful if you
could email your name, gender and age to indicating your
willingness to become part of the new programme. Further information will then be forwarded to

Stay safe and I look forward to seeing you on the 10th May.
Kindest regards, Chris Prior (Chairperson to the Wildcats Trust).
