Wildcats lose thriller in Newcastle

There were four games on a busy Sunday afternoon of action, with the leading teams taking vital wins to continue the momentum of a red-hot title race.

Sevenoaks Suns and Newcastle Eagles have still only suffered one loss, with the former prospering from 20 points and 8 assists from Cat Carr as they eased past Manchester Mystics 69-59.

The Eagles had a dramatic contest against Nottingham Wildcats and squeezed out a thrilling 70-66 success, with a string of excellent individual performances.

Giulia Simioni had 18 points and also 6 assists as she passed 300 in her WBBL career. Meanwhile Georgia Ohrdorf and Mante Kvederaviciute made some noise with 19 and 17 points respectively. The defeat was tough on Jasmine Joyner who had 26 points and 13 boards in defeat.

Leicester Riders are still looking well set and improved to 9-2 after completing a 96-65 triumph at Essex Rebels. They were too strong for the hosts and took the victory thanks mainly to Brea Elmore, who had a standout double-double of 18 points and 10 assists.

Finally, FLT Peterman Sheffield Hatters are making moves as they try to play catch-up having had an early season wobble.

They showed their teeth with a huge 91-56 win against Oaklands as Molten WBBL Player of the Month for December, Asha Thomas continued her rich vein of form with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists.
